Who We Are
Our Vision: A world where everyone has a decent place to live.
What We Do
Groups and individuals come together for a day of work on a construction job site, working on a home of an individual or family who will be purchasing an affordable home.
- Individuals must be at least 16 years old. Minors must be accompanied by an adult.
- Groups of friends, coworkers or organizations are asked to keep their groups to a maximum of 10.
- If you have a larger group, lets talk about a special project! Contact Amanda Gunter at 804-569-6105 x104.
Here is some basic information for each work day with us.
- Please arrive to our construction site by 8:15 a.m., and don't be late! At that time, we will go over basic safety and construction methods critical for the day. Construction begins at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 3:30 p.m. No one will be able to come and go during the day.
- Please wear appropriate clothing to the work site. Baggy clothes, open toe-shoes, or jewelry could create safety hazards on a construction site. Keep weather in mind! Rain will make the site muddy, so plan accordingly.
- Please eat a good breakfast before coming out to work with us. We want you to be ready for the day!
- Lunch is not provided, so please bring a packed lunch. There will be a 30 minute break for lunch usually around 11:30 a.m. Please do not leave the work site during this time.
- Water and snacks are highly recommended.
- Sunscreen and bug spray is recommended.
- Please do not use your cell phones on the site, unless there is an emergency. Volunteering on an active construction site requires everyone’s full attention!
- We provide safety and protective equipment. If you have work gloves that you like to use, and fit well, we suggest bringing them.
- We work in all-weather conditions to get our project done, so come prepared!
If you are doing court-related community service, you must contact Amanda Gunter by email or calling 804-569-6108x104 before beginning any work.
