Can You Help Us By Volunteering for 4 Hours?
What:
- Help Habitat Staff and other volunteers pack and unpack ReStore inventory. There's some lifting involved however we'll have plenty of equipment to help with the process. Please wear comfortable clothing, sneakers/boots and work gloves.
When:
- February 20 through March 7.
- Grand Reopening in the new space on March 8.
Where:
- February shifts will start at our old location, and March shifts would start at our new location. You will receive an email from Amanda Gunter, Director of Community Engagement - agunter@hkwhabitat.org or 804-569-6108 x 104 of any changes. If you have not received the email (or it went to spam) call or email Amanda to get confirmation of which location to go to the day before your scheduled shift.

- Please note - personal items are the responsibility of the volunteer. While we typically have lockers for employees and volunteers, with everything moving, and us being in transition, this may not be an option.
General Safety & COVID:
- Safety at the ReStore is a priority and responsibility of every manager, employee, and volunteer. Safety should not be seen as an end goal, but rather a constant work in progress. It is especially important to be safe during the move.
- Due to COVID-19, and the retail environment, masks are required despite vaccination status.
- Dress appropriately - no Baggy clothes, open toe-shoes, or jewelry. These items could create safety hazards in the store
Equipment:
- Certain equipment and machinery can only be used by staff and volunteers who have been trained. This equipment includes: Forklift, cardboard compactor, any ReStore vehicle, any power tool, any other tool or equipment at the manager’s discretion, and ReStore truck
Make it a team-building experience by asking your coworkers, friends, and families to volunteer with you. (Must be 18 years or older.) Sign up for 1 or 2 shifts!
If you are working for court, pre-court, or school and will need verification of hours, you must contact Amanda Gunter at agunter@hkwhabitat.org or 804-569-6108x104 before signing up and working your first shift. If you do not do this, no verification of hours will be given.
